On the ferry to Koh Phagnan, an island in Thailand. Job is a friend from high school who is teaching in Korea and had a week vacation, so we decided to meet up in Thailand.

I'm being spoiled during Ramadan. An Indian teacher at my school has been taking me out for breakfast a few days this week since the canteen food isn't so good during Ramadan. So this morning we went to McDonalds by the beach :)

Surprises in Malaysia! I went to the mall for a light night run since my laptop charger died, and on my way out I saw a helpless kitten outside the mall doors. It was so chaotic with all the people rushing past her and she was so lost, I figured she would have a better life in my neighborhood than in the city. I drove her home on my motorbike just like this and she didn't move an inch. I think she knew I was helping her.

So I put her on my back porch in a box and gave him Indian dahl and crackers. She was really hungry!

Long, productive day for my bedroom makeover. Carol helped me buy cotton fabric which we took to the tailor (in the picture) and he sewed it into a duvet cover for my bed.

Malaysian students do not learn world geography at all in school, so I'm attempting to teach them the 7 continents and some of the countries in them.

On my way to dinner, my kickstarter fell off my bike at an intersection (which means once it turns off I have no way of turning it back on). So I drove right around and to my neighbor's house where he fixed it temporarily. I have the best neighbors!!

Our newly renovated living room (okay, just some furniture was moved around)

A drum workshop where drummers from all over the world came together to play  music. They had never even met  before the festival, it was really impressive!!

Our campsite where we stayed for 4 days at the Rainforest World Music Festival in Sarawak, Borneo. It was overlooking the ocean, so nice.

Sukan Malaysia 2012! Every 2 years Malaysia has a national sports competition, and this year Pahang is hosting it for the whole country-- and Kuantan is the main city, WOO! My students danced in the opening ceremony and were fantastic!!
