I’m happy to report that at the present moment, my motorbike seems to be in good condition. However, after my last post I did have a few problems…
One day after school a few weeks ago, my motorbike wouldn’t start. Conveniently, this was the day that I had to catch the bus to go down to Mersing which is where we take the ferry to Tioman Island. I asked students to help me start it, they couldn’t. They got 3 or 4 teachers to help me, and they were all working on my bike. They decided it was the spark plug, cleaned it, and got it running in time to get home and catch the bus. I left it at my neighbor’s house that weekend so he could take a look at it, and indeed, it was the spark plug.
A few days later when I got home from Tioman Island, I was driving it and it turned off. I was in my neighborhood near the netball courts and as I was walking it home, some of my students saw me and walked it home for me. At this point, I don’t remember what the problem was. Probably the spark plug again.
Then 2 days after that, my gears decided to stop shifting. Completely. I barely made it to school, and when I did I called the shop and they came to pick it up. Sad day L But no worries, I got it back afterschool and it was good as new. I think.
Goodbye (but it was only for a few hours)
Taking my poor motorbike away
Then, last week Holly and I decided to take our longest trip yet on our motorbikes. We decided to go see our friend Owen who lives on a farm in a village called Cherok Paloh, It’s a 30 minute drive in the country that takes you in villages and a nice stretch of it is right on the beach. It’s a beautiful drive—cows, chickens, goats and sheep line the roads and you have to be careful not to run into any of them since they are free range. Anyway, when we are about 5 minutes away from his farm, my motorbike decides to stop accelerating. I come to a stop and pull on the side of the road and see the chain has come off. Holly and I try to put it back on and get all greased up, but with no success. We end up going to Owen’s house and bringing back the Indonesian workers who live on his farm. They completely fixed my bike and I was good to go.
Ready for our 30 minute journey to Owen's farm!
No problems since then, knock on wood….
